Here’s how it works:
OpenmindProjects (OMP) is a non-profit organization founded in 2001 in Thailand. OMP is active in Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, and Nepal, with a local and global network of volunteers and alumni. OMP believes in EdTech and 21st century learning to help poor children build a better future. They have done this through their training center, learning camps, and in villages.
ย
In 2020, COVID-19 disrupted OMP’s work. In response, they moved their operations online, providing school in Thailand and special projects for disabled students. They also plan to resume their on-the-ground work when possible.
ย
Before COVID-19, OMP had hosted over 600 Thai, Lao, Burmese, and Khmer trainees at their training center. Over 6,000 young village school children from Thailand, Laos, Myanmar, and Cambodia had participated in their 200 learning camps. OMP had also supported schools and other projects in the region with advice, training, and volunteers.ย
Now, OMP is ready to resume its work with the help of volunteers and donors.
In this podcast interview by actress and program host Shelly Nagell, I share my experience growing up in a remote village in Thailand that didn’t have access to electricity. I also share my unconventional journey to becoming a co-founder of OMP and our efforts to restart and evolve after the COVID-19 pandemic.

I was a camper for the OMP Learning Camp. My mind got opened and filled with inspiration, motivation and curiosity in learning English, I.T. and life skills.
